Dolby Headphone

Dolby Headphone logoDolby Headphone is a new feature that simulates the soundscape of a 5-channel home theater loudspeaker system with just a pair of headphones.  With conventional headphone listening, the sound seems to come from between the ears.  This "in-the-head" imaging is unnatural and causes discomfort with some people after extended periods of listening.  Dolby Headphone solves those problems with its powerful digital signal processing algorithm.  Dolby Headphone creates an "out-of- head" soundstage that is more natural and realistic.  Read more about Dolby Headphone and find out what you'll need to use or enjoy this remarkable new technology.  Read the full article.

More Superbit DVDs

Vertical Limit: Superbit DVDColumbia TriStar is releasing two more movies to its Superbit DVD series: Vertical Limit and The Big Hit.  As we mentioned in e-Newsletter issue 17, Superbit DVD is a series of DVDs released with the highest possible picture quality and sound quality.  It does so by using a higher average bit rate for video, inclusion of a DTS soundtrack, and using a higher bit rate (448 kbits/sec) for the Dolby Digital soundtrack.  If you're not familiar with the Superbit DVDs, read this article.  For those of you who are fans of the Superbit DVD series, drop us a note and tell us which movies you would like to see Columbia TriStar release as Superbit DVDs.  To jog your memory, click here for some titles that belong to Columbia TriStar.  Who knows, if there's enough of a trend, we'll forward your requests and they may add it to their slate of future Superbits.

"It's How They Said It" - memorable movie quotes

"I got your four basic food groups!  Beans, bacon, whiskey, and lard!"
The late Jim Varney as the voice of Cookie, the cook in
Atlantis: The Lost Empire (now on DVD)

"I know what you want.  You want what they want, don't you?... I'll never tell... any of you."
Brittany Murphy as Elisabeth Burrows in
Don't Say A Word (now on DVD)

"When you fall in love, it is a temporary madness.  It erupts like an earthquake, and then it subsides.  And when it subsides, you have to make a decision.  You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part, because this is what love is.  Love is not breathlessness.  It is not excitement... That is just being in love, which any of us can convince ourselves we are.  Love itself is what is left over, when being in love has burned away.  Doesn't sound very exciting, does it?  But it is."
John Hurt as Dr. Iannis, giving advice to his daughter, in
Captain Corelli's Mandolin (now on DVD)
