What's New
Our first HTML
e-Newsletter: In our last e-Newsletter, we polled
whether you would prefer the old
text-based e-Newsletter or a new HTML version. With
overwhelming response, the clear preference was HTML (though a
number of you really wanted to keep the text version). So here
we are with our first HTML-based e-Newsletter. For those of
you who prefer the text version, hopefully you found the hot link
at the beginning of this HTML e-mail for viewing with a web browser. Our plan
is to roll out at least one e-Newsletter per month, around the first
Tuesday of each month. We'll follow up again later in the
month if there's significant news or interesting developments. Site
Re-Design: Those of you who have frequented our site in the past
couple of weeks have noticed that we are undertaking a major site
re-design. If you haven't, come take a look
here, and let us
know what you think. We're still converting some existing pages
to the new design, so bear with us.
"It's How They Said It" - memorable movie quotes
"Because we live or we
die by the clock. We never turn our back on it. And we never, ever
allow ourselves the sin of losing track of time!"
Tom Hanks as Chuck Noland in Cast Away
(coming June 12) "I've
all the demons of hell in my head. My only salvation is to vent them
on paper."
Geoffrey Rush as Marquis de Sade in Quills

From A
Galaxy Far, Far Away: We recently heard on the web that the
rumored street date of October 16 for Star Wars Episode 1: The
Phantom Menace has become more than just a rumor. We decided
to check this out ourselves with our studio contact. And guess
what? They replied saying that they can neither confirm or deny
the rumor, but added that we may be receiving some official
information on it very soon. Cool! As Jar Jar would say, "we se wait long
enough."

New
in DVD Hardware Panasonic
introduces a DVD recorder offering backwards compatibility:
Panasonic announced its second generation DVD recorder. The Panasonic
DMR-E20 DVD recorder will debut in October for $1,500 list price and
will offer recording capability for DVD-R as well as DVD-RAM.
The write-once DVD-R format allows for backwards compatibility with
virtually all existing DVD players. We think this is a move in
the right direction for Panasonic, whose previous DVD recorder used
only the DVD-RAM format, which is incompatible with current DVD
players. It's just the latest sign of convergence in the
recordable DVD format war which has at least three competing camps:
DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM. Read the full press
release.
